  • To address the apostolic exhortation, Verbum Domini, by Pope Benedict XVI, for the flowering of “a new season of greater love for sacred Scripture on the part of every member of the People of God, so that their prayerful and faith-filled reading of the Bible will, with time, deepen their personal relationship with Jesus.”

  • To adhere to The Catechism of the Catholic Church (Second Edition): “The Church forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful . . . to learn the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ, by frequent reading of the divine scriptures. Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.” #133

  • To be in accord with Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Evangelii Nuntiandi: On Evangelism in the Modern World, "Those who are already disciples of Jesus Christ… [need] to be constantly nourished by the Word of God so that they may grow in their Christian life."

  • To obey our Lord Jesus Christ who said, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:3-5)

We'll cover everything from books and movies, to the lives of saints, to local church spotlights, to cultural and regional differences in Church traditions, and of course, Bible stories and passages - and how each of these tie back to a specific theme each week.

TESTIMONIES OF GROUP MEMBERS

Bible study is a wonderful opportunity to explore various aspects of the Bible, and to gain a deeper understanding of Scripture. Meetings are informal and relaxed, and facilitators are very welcoming. There is no pressure, just a shared opportunity for learning and celebration of the Word of the Lord. Allegra D’Adamo

I have been attending Bible study groups for several years and find it to be soul nourishing and strengthening for the seasons of life that we all go through. As I started to study and understand the Word of God, I felt an insatiable hunger to want more of Him in my life because of the peace that comes with the knowledge of God's Word. I encourage you to dedicate some of your time to reading and studying His Word with other believers in a Bible Study group, and I can assure you that you will be blessed by it in more ways than you could ever have imagined! Eva Petruzziello

Attending a Bible Study has become a very important part of my life.  It is wonderful to pray and study God's Word together, share our faith and support one another, and to feel God's loving presence.  Drawing closer to God and understanding how much He loves us is very comforting and helps me to focus on what is important in life.   MaryAnne Leechan
