With Sorrow and Prayer: The Passing of Pope Francis

December 17, 1936 – April 21, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we share the news that our Holy Father, Pope Francis, passed away this morning. We commend his soul to the tender mercy of God and ask that you join in prayer for the repose of his soul.
Pope Francis served the Church with deep humility, compassion, and an unwavering call to live the Gospel with authenticity. His papacy reminded us—again and again—that faith is not passive. It is alive, and it is meant to be lived. He urged us to be the hands and feet of Christ in a wounded world, to care for the poor, to protect creation, and to meet one another with mercy and love. His voice echoed the very heart of Christ.
In keeping with the Church’s tradition, we will offer three Masses for the repose of Pope Francis’s soul. I invite you to join us:
- Tonight at 7:00 p.m. – First Mass for the repose of his soul
- Tomorrow, April 22:
- 9:00 a.m. – Daily Mass
- Following 9:00 a.m. Mass until 7:00 p.m. – Eucharistic Adoration
- 7:00 p.m. – Second Mass for the repose of his soul
- Wednesday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m. – Third Mass for the repose of his soul
Adoration will take place throughout the day tomorrow, April 22, giving us the opportunity to spend quiet time before our Lord in thanksgiving and in prayer for Pope Francis. Please see the sign-up link below for those who would like to serve as guardians of the Eucharist during this time.
We have placed these masses in the evening with the hope that many in the parish will be able to come together—united in prayer and in faith—as we remember our Holy Father and entrust his soul to the mercy of God. Together, we also pray that the Holy Spirit will raise up the next shepherd of the universal Church with wisdom and grace.
Please note our morning mass schedule remains unchanged.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
